Healing from painful memories and experiences takes courage and a compassionate, understanding present-focused awareness. In order to find inner peace and resolution, you may need to confront inner demons (i.e. regrets, fears, hurts, resentments, anger). Having a caring and helpful ally in your healing process helps give necessary distance and perspective, key components in developing insight, compassion towards oneself and others, and the healing tools to manage negative self-talk.
In therapy, we seek to repair the damage trauma has caused and help you to re-claim a healthy sense of trust in yourself and a cautious trust in the world. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and CRM (Comprehensive Resource Model) are both effective therapies that help you heal from trauma and restore a sense of inner peace and trust. By connecting with your internal resources and strengths and reprocessing through traumatic events, you can heal and recover from trauma.
The first step in trauma healing work, after gaining a solid understanding of your trauma and your methods of coping, is to identify and "install" some Internal Resources to assist you in your healing work. Once you are grounded and supported by your own internal resources, you are ready to begin reviewing and reprocessing your trauma in order to find peaceful resolution of your past hurts.
